Dear Governor Herbert,

With the announced date of resignation from the United States House of Representatives of June 30, 2017 by Representative Jason Chaffetz, the Executive Committee of the Utah County Republican Party recognize the importance of your exercised responsibility to call a special election for Rep. Chaffetz’s replacement. We also recognize the constitutional responsibility of the Utah Legislature to determine or confirm the times, place and manner of holding the special election and encourage you to convene a special session to allow the Utah Legislature to prescribe the process by law.
