The party has been informed that Representative Francis Gibson, of House District 65, has announced he will resign from his position effective November 8th. We would like to thank Representative Gibson for his service to our state and our community, and wish him the best in his future endeavors.
It is the party’s duty to run a special election with the county delegates that reside in House District 65 to fill this vacancy. The Executive Committee of the party has decided that the election will be held on November 6th, at 11:00 am at Springville Jr High, and that the candidate filing period will be from Thursday, October 28th to Monday, November 1st at 5pm.
Eligibility. “Any candidate who was registered as a Republican in the most recent general election and is currently eligible to file as a Republican candidate may file for a midterm vacancy.” – Utah County Republican Party Bylaw 7B
